Does anyone know of Disney's progress on Blu-Ray version of 1982 Tron? Last I heard, they had some trouble digitizing the film due to the special effect, the glowing lines on actor's costumes. I would love to watch this in 1080 resolution because I remember watching this in movie theater long ago. Video tapes and standard DVD doesn't have all the finer details that I remember seeing in movie theaters.

Also what about the original Star Wars trilogy? When Lucas started on remake in early 1990's and discovered the original master film was badly degraded, he had to work on restoring it first. From what I read about the film restoration and additional effects that were added to enhance the films, he didn't record the new master film in high digital resolution. At the time, DVD wasn't even out yet (1999 I think) and higher resolution video discs were still many more years away. So unless he had something up his sleeves, it seems we may only get 720 version of original trilogy at best?

At the moment Tron is slated for a November 2010 release as part of the lead up to the Xmas release of the sequel. There appears to be no published release date for the Star Wars saga, although various Lucasfilm people have confirmed that is is being worked on, and that there will be new extras and features. Chances are scenes will have been updated/changed etc. again, and tinkering seems to be a George's hobby.
