I selected Blu-ray as I have a Pioneer BD burner, but I also have about 12 DVD burners that I use more often.

I use dvd burners - a pioneer in my everyday use old xp computer. I have a stock oem drive in my vista pc that i use for video encoding. However I do have a liteon BLURAY ROM drive in it that I use for ripping. I also have a xbox 360 hd-dvd. I have about 8 hd-dvds. I've converted a couple to mkvs. One I even converted to dvd from the mkv. Looks pretty good in fact.

You don't wanna know how many dvd burners I use and have in my possession!
Yes, I am a dvd burner whore!

Dvd burners that I currently use:
    Pioneer 212, (2x's) 215, 216 all sata dvd burners
    Benq 1655 & 1640
LG HG62L, LG Bluray drive for ripping purposes
    Sony Optiarc 7240S
    Samsung S203B

Now the dvd burners sitting on the shelf:
    Benq 1640 (7), Benq 1620 (3), Benq 1655 brand new in box
    Pioneer 115 silver, 216 Beige
Plextor 708 (my very first dvd burner)
    Liteon 181AIP
    Pioneer 212

All of the dvd burners except the Sony Optiarc 7240S have hacked firmware for one reason or another!

I have a few dvd burners so that is what I chose. MY last dvd burner is also a Bluray rom.
As far as a BR burner goes, I don't see myself ever buying a BR burner.
I have a few Media players and hard disks and that how I like to view my BRs and my DVDs.

  11. Three Pioneer DVD burners, several Samsung, and then there are The Lite-Ons That Never Died, now in their eighth year.
One Samsung Blu-Ray reader/DVD burner combo, recently exchanged under warranty.

Somewhere in the crawlspace there are two Lite-On CD burners.

  13. At the moment, 3 DVD burners and 1 Lite-On BD-ROM. Blu-Ray burners and media are still far too expensive.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!
