    Hi all.

This might have been answered, so please point out some links in this forum if that's the case.

I have 'DVD rips' I made myself around 700MB each, video resolution about 480x272.

I used a DVD ripper to make them, DivX with MPEG4 codec setting.

I want to make a DVD-Video compilation with 6 of those files so I'm looking for a software that can build some nice navigation menus (silent still menus to save disk space).

I also have ripped the Chapter cell times (.txt) & subtitles (.SUP) from PGCdemux so I want the software that can accept these. Or at least .SRT subtitles.

I have tried to import my AVI files into TMPG DVD Author 3 & DVD Authoring Works 4 but one AVI file alone just takes up about 4GB of the potential disk.

So I need some suggestions. Do I go for one of those ULEAD/CYBERLINK type software or something else?

6 movies? You can only fit 2-3 hours/dvd if you want good quality. But if you lower bitrate/quality you can fit more. I'm not sure if you can adjust it in tmpgenc authoring works. Or try convertxtodvd or avstodvd, they support srt subs.

You can't do it without making them VCD resolution and quality. If you have the originals, why bother ? You have already thrown away 75% of quality by resizing them down to a low resolution and re-encoding them, and you want to do it again ?

Get yourself a DVD player that plays DivX Ultra files, add your subs and chapters with aviaddxsubs, then just burn these 6 files as data. You can find them at Walmart or Target for $40 these days.

    Hi again.

Actually these 'rips' I made a long time ago for my portable media player (PMP) & I know they are like 'VCD' quality since my PMP can't play videos with high resolutions.

So yes, I wanna make a compilation of VCD movies/music videos but in the format of a regular DVD-Video.

These compilations are also for relatives/friends with old DVD players that doesn't play DivX/AVI files.

Out of AVStoDVD & ConvertXtoDVD which I just 'newly' tested (never tried them before!), I like AVStoDVD because it takes .SUP files & Celltimes chapters from PGCDemux.
