Ok here's the deal.
I have captured 36 individual segments of cutscenes from a ps3 video game. I recorded them in 1280x720 in TS format with my hauppauge hdpvr (with 5.1).
I intend to join them into one continuous uninterrupted movie file. I have been given suggestions of programs to use to do simple cutting without reencoding.
HOWEVER some segments have audio bleedthrough onto video after the clip ends. What I mean is that after the video is done some of the sound spills over on to the game menu screen. So instead of fading completely to black and silence it fades to black briefly and jumps to the game menu WITH THE SOUND STILL PLAYING. However it is very faint sometimes but it can be the final note of a dramatic piece of music that would be disappointing to have to snip out in order to join the clips together seemlessly.
Now I do have pinnacle studio plus 12 that can do h264 but I have not tested it with this latest batch of clips so I don't know if it likes the h264 in the ts container hauppauge uses. Aside from that I am also weary of going through a tedious editing session only to lose quality upon cutting if pinnacle studio plus 12 does not do editing without reencoding.
Now is this possible to insert BLANK video into the part where the sound carries over to the game menu? I'm imagining that the carry over can't be more than a second or so. That can't be many frames can it?
Is this worth pursuing? I mean I would love to get this patched together so all the clips play end to end without an interruption. However if that means endless reencoding and losing quality (and possibly my sanity) would it be worth it?
Should I just simply live with a second or so of a game menu screen upon jumping from sequence to sequence? I know film is 24fps What would video games on a ps3 be? I don't know about this particular game (I can mention it if forum rules permit). I do know some ps3 games are 60fps right?
So would that mean that at most I'd have 48 frames of screen carryover to the next sequence to allow the sound to continue from the previous segment?
And before anyone asks no the game did not have a PLAY ALL button. If it did this excersize wouldn't be necessary.
Would reencoding with an editor like pinnacle be the only way to go to get perfect clipping while mainting the fade out? Also how exactly would I go about inserting a proper blank screen in the hd realm? How do you create a proper 1280x720 blank shot to insert?
Is this all just about impossible or would I have to have the patients of a Monk to tackle this?
These were capped at 7mb if I remember right. What would be a good reencoding rate to maintain similar quality if I do have to reencode to make this happen? I do understand I wouldn't keep it EXACTLY as the original but I don't need perfection I just want "similar" quality.
Thanks for all the advice.
FYI this is for personal use and I have no set deadline on this at all so I really could just take a month to do this and edit one file a night if I decided too.

I had an inspiration about this.
Would doing simple scene transitions be a better way to go about moving from cutscene to cutscene?
I could do it like Star Wars and do fades and wipes. That way any game menu video that was left over would be obliterated in a fancy transition while maintaining the audio.
Assuming I can edit these in pinnacel studio 12 plus what is a good setting to use for a quality encoding to avchd? Would keeping it at the same bitrate minimize degradation? I do realize keeping the original quality is not possible with editing like this (at least not with an entry level suite like pinnacle plus). But I'd like to maintain similar quality.
Suggestions are welcome for combining multiple hd h264 files and maintaining quality in the avchd world. I'd like to avoid purchasing new software. Thanks.

Also transition effects do not interfere with audio is that correct? Do they just blend the video together? If so then I can import all of my videos and do simple fades in and out between the clips then I'd be all set.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
