I've used Virtual Dub for years with no problems on my old xp computer. I have a new windows 7 pc and as soon as I attempt to cut a segment from my captured avi video, an error box pops up with Virual Dub Program Failure. It says "oops, virtual dub has crashed." Possible cause An out-of-bounds memory access (access violation) occurred in module 'VirtualDub'...
...reading address 06169002. It happens every time with every avi. I've reinstalled the program with the same result. I have a bunch of captured avi files and I want to frameserve. Can anyone offer a solution? Thanks.

	I was using 1.9.5 but last night I downloaded 9.1.1 64 bit. After attempting numerous times to get it to work, I learned that it only crashes when I hit the button to fast forward to the next scene. If I tap tap tap the arrow to move along, it doesn't crash. I was able to frameserve last night. But you can imagine how tiresome that tap tap tapping can be when trying to cut the commercials from a two hour program. This never happened when I was running windows xp. Perhaps there's something I need to install on my new system.

	I tried it in xp virtual mode and got the same result. As soon as I tried to ff to the next scene, I got the "oops" message. 
 
 I found an older version online and installed it and..................it works just fine!!! So newer is not always better. Thanks for responding to my post. I appreciate it very much.

	I have VirtualDub 1.9.8 and VirtualDub64 1.9.9 running on Win7 without any problems. You might have codec or display driver problem. Try disabling VirtualDub's DirectX output (Options -> Preferences -> Display) and different codecs (eg, ffdshow instead of Xvid or Divx).

	Tried it....Same result. Thanks for the suggestion but since the old version works fine, I'm throwing in the towel.

	You should probably contact Phaeron (Avery Lee), the creator of Virtualdub at the Virtualdub forum and post a complete error log. If this is a bug then he will need to know so that he can fix it in the next release. He can at least tell you what the problem is and help you fix it if it's on your end. It's hard to believe that it's a bug since they have been testing this version for over a year and nobody reported this problem before 1.9.9's release..

	I followed the instructions on the oops pop-up and sent him the crash info. Hopefully, he'll have a suggestion as to why I'm unable to use that version of the program. In the meantime, the prior version is working fine. Go figure!
