If you had the choice of buying the Amazon MP3 or iTunes version of a song, which would you buy?

They are virtually identical. It doesn't really matter. I have bought from both of them and from Zune. All of them have good quality.

I just choose one over the other depending on availability not loyalty. Though I do tend to buy more from Zune since I own a Zune. Oh and by the way yes Zune does sell drm free mp3 downloads just like the other places.

It's really a matter of preference of store experience than any true technical superiority.

I'd rather deal with Amazon MP3 than iTunes.

Amazon mp3's are my preference, quality is as good as I need, large selection, and easier to deal with than having to have itunes software installation.

I'll take DRM-free over DRM every time.

well actually most of the major stores offer drm free purchases now so it really is only a matter of store preference in the long run.

I'll pay $ for an uncompressed cd i can actually put my hands on over paying $ for some compressed MP3 (or WE Itunes uses) garbage
Once i have the actual uncompressed retail cd i can rip it and convert it to anything i want for anything i want and still have the original uncompressed source

There was an elton john concert here a few weeks ago in grand rapids and a friend went to it.

After the show he bought a USB flash drive with the first half of the concert, for something like $20.00, then you come home and download the 2nd half of the concert.

He brought it to me to go online and use his code to DL the rest of the concert.

My god did they do a crappy job of splitting the songs, when it was put together so it was a continuous concert and played on a cd you could hear the change in the audio level when it went from song to song, like they cut out a second or so when splitting it up.

The thing that really irked me was this, on the site you could order the whole concert from that venue on TWO cd's for like $25-$30.
Funny thing is, the whole concert had to be split up across THREE cdr's!!

Then i looked closer and the CD's of the concert were rated at 320kbps
So they want to sell you a 2 cd set of the concert with just MP3's on them!!
And the whole concert in MP3 format would fit on ONE cd!!!

Sorry, if i am going to pay $25-$30 for an entire concert on cd's, it had better be better quality than MP3's!!
And it had better play on ANY cd player!!
Which obviously a couple of cd's with MP3's on it WON'T!!
