Portable dvd player for camera?

Hi everyone, I wondered if someone could please help me.

I wanted to connect a Portable DVD player to my Sony A300 DSLR camera so that I could review my photos on a bigger screen other than the camera screen.

I wondered what brand and model would have capabilities of doing this, I think it would need a USB port and In and Out video outputs but I am not sure.

The DVD player would need a composite or S-Video input that matches your camera's output.

Portable DVD players usually don't have USB ports.

Does it really have to play DVDs, or do you just want a thing that has a bigger display than your camera, as well as the ability to play files transferred from your camera? If that's all you really need, then I recommend a little netbook or something similar. I regularly see them on sale at surplus places (like mwave.com) for less than $150US. They make fine portable media players. Plus, the built-in WiFi connection allows you to upload vids with ease (to say nothing of the usual netbook functions).

If you insist that the thing be able to play actual, physical discs, then you're going to have to get a full-blown laptop. I know of no portable DVD players that have a USB connection. That doesn't mean that they don't exist, but it probably means that they are very rare (= expensive).

If you don't need to transfer files, and do not need to play actual discs, then many portable DVD players will probably do what you want (which, in this case, would be to act as a dumb display). Many models have external video input ports (S-vid or RCA).
