Thanks in advance.p.s I live in the boston area and was wondering if anyone out there lives near me and is willing to take me under there wing

To make them work on a dvd player you must

if that is not that important you can just burn the mpgs on the dvd.

and you need a dvdr recorder/writer to burn dvdr.

  3. Actually I was wondering the same thing. The guide is for converting a VCD file into a format that DVD writing software will be fooled into using. That creates a DVD video.

What I am wondering is if you can make a SVCD formated disc, but using DVD media instead of CD-R?. No re-encoding needed.

The question is, is there software that would write it (can you use CD-R software such as nero to write to DVD?) and would a player be fooled into thinking it was a SVCD (just really large).

I suppose it woud be the opposite of mini DVD - perhaps called maxi SVCD. Definitely not a standard format disk - which goes against my nature, but if I have the original SVCD's to begin with, I don't mind.

Any one out there try this. I haven't made the plunge into the world of DVD writing yet, but estimate I will within 12 months or so. I have a large collection of music videos on SVCD and would like to eventually move them over to DVD format to increase play time. But I would like to do so without re-encoding them if possible.

P.S. There is one stupid question best left unasked on this forum: "My DVD player won't play my VCD - help?" without any details given.
