I have a video on my PC which seems to be in a very compact form. I have tried to play it on WinDVD that usually can open 99.99% of all videos that I have on my harddisk without any problems. This file however WinDVD only plays with sound and no picture is shown. WinDVD says that it recognizes the format of the file to be MPEG-A. I thought I had every available codec on the net downloaded but apparently I've missed something out. Is this possibly equivalent to MPEG-1? If so, why can't WinDVD play the file? I've tried to look at it in VirtualDub but it won't open there either. Windows MediaPlayer and GlobalDIVX also plays with sound only. FlaskMPEG and The Playa won't cooperate in any way. I also thought that the "A" in MPEG-A could stand for audio only. That would of course explain why no picture i shown.

Any suggestion much appreciated.
