  1. Hi all-

I've been trying sometime now to convert some screen capture of some software I made to flv format but it seems like what ever I try, the resulting flv file is grainy and the screen capture AVI file is always clean. Is it possible to produce an flv file that isn't grainy? To capture, I've been using both Screen VidShot and CamStudio and for conversion both WinFF and Riva. I played around with using different Codecs and different bit rate and resolutions and frame rates but I invariably produce grainy flv files. Also when I first open the flv it seems crisp but as the video plays, the quality starts to degrade. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Daniel

Use instead h264 video or on2 video. Use for example handbrake, xvid4psp and convert a mp4 h264(yep, it is supported flash).

Or does it have to be flash flv1 video?

  3. FLV1? I'm using Flash CS4 targeting Flash Player 10. Does that help answer your question?

Can you choose a different video codec? flv can contain flv, on2 and h264 video. on2 and h264 is much better than flv.

(I only use free tools so I don't know any settings in flash cs4).

  5. I'm thinking the bit about CS4 is off topic anyway-- in flash, you can embed the player in your application so the end result is a bit more integrated than using a stand alone player. OK back on topic --

Wow I didn't know that. Flash player 10 can take files other than flv format such as on2 and h264. So now it looks like my job is to use the above mentioned tools and go from AVI to on2 or h264. Great. I can't wait to start. I assume the default settings should suffice as far as frame rate, bit rate etc. Perhaps you can direct me to a guide to answer these questions. Thank you so much. I'll be sure to post my results
