It looks like the calls for a Sizzle tutorial in the sticky weren't realized. I started another thread about a problem with Toast when multiplexing various VOBs or MPG files using the Video Tab. I have tried Sizzle as an alternative but I can't get my Disc Image to play. The Start Movie button on my menu lights up when I click it but the DVD does not actually start.

Here is what I have done, which obviously is not correct:
    1. I click Add title and add my first MPG file. I repeat the process to add my second MPG title.
    2. I have a Start Movie button and using the Edit button>dropdown to Action: Jump to beginning of disk. However, my disc image, when mounted with Toast does not actually start the DVD.
    3. I select Save Disc Image

Can someone walk me through the steps of using Sizzle so I can end up with a playable DVD?

My archived copy of Sizzle 0.5b2 is from 2003 (copyright notice) or 2004 (file date). Seven years is a long time in software land. I'm surprised the tool is still in use, given how basic it is. I doubt anyone is willing to go through the trouble of research to write a tutorial now, for so few users, when there are more complete authoring tools.

I think this creates a very short loop without actually getting to any content:
Beginning of disc > TOC menu > button > Jump to beginning of disc > TOC menu > button > Jump to beginning of disc > ... (repeat)

Try a editing a "Pick a clip" button to: Jump to menu... > Title 1.
Then in the Title 1 menu, set a "Play clip" button to Jump to chapter > Chapter 1 (00:00:00.00)
Yes this will create a double menu, but it will work and you will be able to test if this fixes your playback issue.
(You could 'clean it up' with MyDVDEdit, by skipping a menu, if Sizzle works as you hope it does.)

I doubt Sizzle will fix your issue, as I think the problem may be with your MPEG, and not in the authoring.

Thanks Case. Before I follow this through. Can you also tell me what I would do in MyDVDEdit to skip the menu?

BTW my MPG is fine. I was able to burn in UDF mode on LiquidCD (another old program) and the DVD played fine on my set-top player. The problem with this is that the MPG files are burned on their own (no VIDEO_TS folder via multiplexing), which means the DVD won't play on the computer (a problem if I trade the DVD for another soccer DVD). The problem is clearly one with Toast, but why this is happening now and why I seem to be the only person having this problem is a big mystery. As I noted in the other thread, the problem is not just with one MPG but any MPG or VOB burned in Toast's video tab setting.

My first stab with Sizzle produced a DVD that played fine on the computer after I screwed around with MyDVDEdit but the DVD would not load on my set-top DVD player (the loading icon just continued to spin--hence my request for your advice about what to do with MyDVDEdit since I obviously did something partially right to get it to play on my computer but not fully right since it didn't work on the set-top).

  4. just a tip with myDVDEdit:
    - open the resulting VIDEO_TS folder in myDVDEdit,
    - go to the "allowed regions" (from memories: middle bottom part of the GUI, check the vertical tabs)
    - uncheck regions 7 & 8 (a lot of home dvd players refuse to read the disk if theses special regions are enabled)

    bye
