    Writing a Memorex 8x DL DVD on my Samsung SH-S222L (Firmware SB01), I cannot get a DL DVD to play on my Zenith XBV342 DVD/VHS player.

    Is it the Firmware level? Current is SB03. But, I cannot upgrade it since I'm using it in an external FW drive, and I am also on a Mac.

    Is it the Zenith? Maybe it just doesn't read (Memorex) DL DVDs that are not commercially made (pressed)?

    Any help appreciated.

    I made it using Toast 6.1.1 and also with my Disk Utility app. Neither was readable on the Zenith, but they are readable back through the Samsung.

    MEMOREX is crappy media to begin with. Use VERBATIM DUAL LAYER media and burn with IMGBURN.

    ... well, I'm on a Mac, so IMGBURN is out of reach.

    I've always had good luck with single layer Memorex products. Maybe the DL technology is a flaky element?

    Any experience out there, playing a DVD DL on a Zenith XBV342?
