    Hi! I'm Annousenka ^-^

I've got a question about my Sony Betamax player.

I'm trying to convert all of My Family's Beta tapes to DVD on my computer, and it's working pretty well!

The only problem is that the audio sounds very muffled. However, when I fast forward the tape a little bit, when it starts playing the audio is perfect! After a few seconds, though, it gets quiet and muffled

This happens when I view it in my TV alsosies Is there anything that I can do to fix the audio either while the tapes are playing or after I've converted them?

    Thank you ^-^

My guess would be your tape transport needs a tension adjustment. The conventional audio track is recorded on the edge of the tape and any stretching due to tension will curl the edge of the tape. Tension mis-adjustment was a common problem on the SL-2700.

Finding someone to repair a beta VCR is next to impossible. You could send it to Sony,if it's a Sony, but there extremely expensive. Do you know anyone who has beta VCR? You could try a repair yourself but it would involve removing the bottom of the VCR to expose the belts and gears. You could try applying Belt Dressing to the belts and gears. Best done with a foam swab. This will sometimes restore normal tension. What model VCR is it?
