  1. I've been backing up DVD movies for years with DVD Shrink. However, DVD Shrink fits the movie to a DVD that is 4.7GB.

Now that there are discs that can hold 8.5GB (looks like this is referred to as a DVD-9?), what software should I use to rip the files to my hard drive to fit 8.5GB?

Sorry if this is a repost but I have been searching and it seems like most of the guides and articles still focus on ripping DVD's to a 4.7GB format.

    Thanks.

  2. DVD-9 has been out for years.
For a 1:1 copy use DVDDecrypter(ISO read -> ISO write), you can also use DVDShrink if you select DVD-9 in Preferences.

  4. Thanks so much! That was a lot more simple than I thought.

Also, are there any problems with burning to a dual layer dvd (DVD-9)? Should my regular burner work?

Use Verbatim DVD+R DL and any writer OTHER than a Lite-On, ImgBurn is best but DVDDecrypter will work.

Here's a guide for burning using PGCEdit and IMGburn:

I found it to be really good when I started burning DL discs.
    If in doubt, Google it.
