  1. Hi guys, I'm new to video streaming and VideoHelp.com. I'm interested in making or modifying other programs to do live streaming with adaptive bit rate.

For example, I would stream a video camera or web cam and the encoder would do adaptive encoding based on the condition of the network received via feedback.

Is there such an encoder available now? Or do I need to modify one? Any info on live streaming and a live encoder like I described above would be helpful.

    Thanks guys.

This would have to be a closed system, a'la Skype, where you have a client that communicates with the encoder. I haven't seen anything in the wild like that, although I suspect that for corporate type teleconferencing it exists. For general live streaming it is more difficult as you could have multiple clients attached, each with different quality connections. Do you drop the encoding down to meet the lowest common denominator ?

Perhaps if you give more specifics about the actual situation you have, you will get a more detailed response.
