    Hello,

Pinnacle tells that if you have problems with dropped frames you can disable the preview window. This can solve the problem.

However, when I capture from VHS with my DC10+ I get something like 20-50 dropped frames in 30 mins (I have never tried to disable the preview window) and this ain't that bad. With old Studio (1.06) I got much more dropped frames, now I'm using Studio 7.

Other thing you can try is to close all running processes and leave only the ones which you need to run the system.

the vcr is a brand new JVC svhs vcr. it might be the tapes , but i wouldnt think the quality of the signal would cause drop outs. it should just record a crapy picture if the signal is poor , right ? or am i missing somthing ?

    Hello,

The quality causes drop outs. You can try it by playing the tape without any picture and all you get is dropped frames.

If you have a very bad tape with lot of "drop outs"(horizontal lines) on the tape you most likely get dropped frames. But try first to reduce extra running processes and check what happens.

ps my old dazzle external video capture device didnt care what the signal coming in was and i didnt have to encode to mpg either.i got this new card because i wanted to capture at the higher bitrates and resolutions for dvd and svcd too. i hope i havent made a mistake in buying this card.

    Hello,

I had also major problems with the DC10+ at the beginning but now everything works perfectly and the quality I get is very good.

I takes some time when playing with the settings and hours on the internet to get all in order, but it can be done. It's worth it!

If you are using AMD processor with VIA drivers you might have probs if you do not have all the latest drivers .
