I have a bunch of high definition football games from my DVR that are in ts format. I'm looking to shrink them down to fit on a DL DVD for long term storage. What would be your format of choice?

I'm using a mac and I'm considering h.264 mp4 files but I guess I'm looking for suggestions. I'd like a format that is very versatile (long term) and will maintain the highest possible quality.

Software suggestions are also welcome. Right now I'm editing out commercials in VideoRedo (windows) and then converting using Handbrake on my iMac.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

  2. The most versatile is the unre-encoded source format. Why not just keep that? (And maybe storing on hard drives, for keeping storage costs low.)
