Error Converting to Xvid

Everytime i try to convert from DVD to Xvid i get an error when I'm about to encode. It says "Stats File not found". Converting to Divx works just fine, but I'd rather have Xvid for some of the DVD's im backing up. I've been following the guides exactly.

EDIT: One more thing... Whenever i use AutoGK i set the file to around 175mb and it ends up 110mb. And its causing me a little loss in quality. How can i fix that?

It says "Stats File not found".

Maybe a couple of reasons for that. One might be that you didn't run the first pass. In XviD Configuration->Encoding Type, make sure it's first set for "Twopass-1st Pass. Then hit the "More" button and scroll to the place you want to keep the stats file (nowadays it's a .pass file), and give it a name, "Movie.pass".

The other reason might be that you really did run the first pass, changed to "Twopass-2nd pass", but you hadn't saved the first pass Movie.pass file correctly. Make sure it has the ".pass" as an extension.

Kind of hard to know what happened unless you post the log. There's always the chance that you maxed out the quality. You might check the log to see if the compress test result was over 100%. If so, it can't get any larger than what you got with the settings you chose. You might try giving it a higher resolution, or better audio (AC3 instead of MP3, for example).

And yes, imho, it was worth rekindling a 14 year old thread....
I stored mine in the same folder as the movie files and called it movie.log, this can also be called movie.pass
