Yes, there's software that will extract the image. The hard part is getting the Wii to use it - some of the newer is protected in ways that can brick a Wii.

you need a certain dvd rom drive in order to read a wii game. not every dvdrom drive will work. And when you find the right drive it takes hours to completely read it. easier if you just download your favorite game and burn it to dvdr

You are in breach of the forum rules and are being issued with a formal warning. Advocating Warez.

These are the drives that READ Wii discs:
    LG GDR-8161b
    LG GDR-8162b
    LG GDR-8163b
    LG GDR-8164b
    LG GDR-8082N
They are all ROM drives....NOT burners....but any burner will do
after you extract the disc image with one of the above ROM drives.
Then you still need to HACK YOUR Wii console.
    No way around it.

Rawdump will work to extract the image. There are guides on the internet for those who can use google properly. hech listed the specific drives (much like the kreon flashed drives used for Xbox) that can read a Wii disc.

There are also tons of sites that claim their software will read a Wii disc (or others) in any old drive - they're just trying to take your money. They do not work.

If you can find a site where you can download Rawdump, then you likely have founda a site that has a guide for ripping and burning a Wii disc.

i use a usb hard drive and usbloader to read and store the iso's. once connected and running usbloader will use the wii's own drive to create an iso on the hard drive.

  19. You can play a lot of homebrew games & applications with a Homebrew Channel on your Wii. Also allows you to put Bootmii on an SD card so you can reload an backup of your OS if you need to.
