Hey, ive been having a real headache with this.

Basically, I have 2 files here: an m2ts file and an MKV file.

This is the info for the m2ts:

    Video
    ID : 4113 (0x1011)
    Menu ID : 1 (0x1)
    Format : AVC
    Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec
    Format profile : High@L4.1
    Format settings, CABAC : Yes
Format settings, ReFrames : 2 frames
    Duration : 20s 645ms
    Bit rate : 1 333 Kbps
    Width : 704 pixels
    Height : 396 pixels
    Display aspect ratio : 16:9
    Frame rate : 23.976 fps
    Resolution : 8 bits
    Colorimetry : 4:2:0
    Scan type : Progressive
    Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.199
    Stream size : 3.28 MiB (73%)

This is the info for the MKV:

    Video
    ID : 1
    Format : MPEG-4 Visual
    Format settings, BVOP : No
    Format settings, QPel : No
Format settings, GMC : No warppoints
Format settings, Matrix : Default (H.263)
    Codec ID : DX50
    Codec ID/Hint : DivX 5
    Duration : 23mn 22s
    Bit rate : 2 642 Kbps
    Width : 1 280 pixels
    Height : 720 pixels
    Display aspect ratio : 16:9
    Frame rate : 23.976 fps
    Resolution : 8 bits
    Colorimetry : 4:2:0
    Scan type : Progressive
    Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.120
    Stream size : 442 MiB (91%)
    Writing library : DivX 6.8.5 (UTC 2009-08-20)

Now, to mux these, I have been remuxing them to AVI files using AVIDemux, and then attempting to use AVI-Mux to mux them together.

However, AVI-Mux gives me an error saying "Can't join files: Video Resolution is different."

What can I do? Should i try to convert the files using a different tool? I prefer to use AVIDemux since I can use the "Copy" option and lose no quality.
Should I try a different muxer?

I do not really care what the output file is, as long as it is playable on PS3 and there is no quality loss.

Personally, I dont mind if I lose a little quality on the m2ts file in conversion. However, I want to keep all the quality I can from the MKV file and avoid re-encoding it.

    Thanks for any help.

One's 704x396 and the other is 1280x720. To be able to join them the resolutions have to be the same. And also most of the other video and audio specs.

One or the other will have to be reencoded with the accompanying quality loss.

I see, so what can I use to re encode the 704x396 file to 1280x720? Or vice versa.
Would there be a really noticeable quality loss?

  4. XviD4PSP, I suppose. But since I don't try and join videos of such vastly different properties, I'm not really the one to ask. The differing resolutions will be only one of the problems you'll have to overcome. Perhaps someone else will chime in.
