  1. I have been a long time user of applications such as Gordian Knot, meGUI and avi.NET and in all of those mentioned applications I have never had a problem with getting a resolution of either 640:368 or 624:352 and the final encoded avi looking really polished.

I have been reading alot about StaxRip recently and how so many people say it's the best encoder front end but I am totally confused with trying to get either of those resolutions without it spitting out massive AR errors (lit in orange)

Why does StaxRip tell me those resolutions are really wrong when other programs allow me them without no hassle and the outputs from the other applications have always been fantastic.

Why does StaxRip offer you resolutions that I have never seen before for example 640:272 or 720:421 totally strange and I don't want to use them.

    StaxRip is stressful

  2. It won't offer you 720x421. The earlier resolutions you mentioned are for 1.78:1/1.85:1 movies or thereabouts. An AVI of 640x272 is for a much wider movie, 2.35:1 or thereabouts. They are also very common. If I were you I'd pay attention to those orange AR errors. You'd get the same resolution if done correctly using GKnot.
