Hi all... I recently bought the canon HFS100 about a day or two before I left for vacation to austrailia. I've been using the camera with settings of MXP (24mbps) and a framerate of PF24 (24fps). Should I be shooting at 60i (60fps) instead. I've already shot several videos at MXP with a setting of 24fps and hopefully that's ok.
My goal:
I've bought 4 Lexar Platinum 8gb Class 4 cards which have been working flawlessly. Can I just take the card contents and burn it onto a dual layer dvd to play back as avchd video? That was my original plan. I have an oppo BDP-83 blu-ray player. Is the 24fps ideal for handheld shooting or should I record it at 60i instead? From my understanding 24fps would be more ideal for avchd.
I'm currently In Sydney and won't have internet after the 20th for 2 weeks or so. If someone could help me out before then I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thank you for any help!
Wesley

24p is pseudo "film look". too slow for normal shooting it requires a tripod and set shots to look good. 60i is better for handheld shooting. your best bet is to use a program like multiAVCHD to make sure it plays.

Thank you for your reply. I've shot about 6 hours of video so far in 24fps. From now on i'll shoot at 60i instead. My next stop is New Zealand so I want to make sure that I have everything correct as i'm sure it'll be beautiful over there.
BTW, are you saying that just copying the files onto a Dual Layer DVD won't play back as an avchd video on my oppo? Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to figure this all out before I left. I'm a photographer and not a videographer so this is all new to me. -
you'll have to try it all players are different in what they'll accept to play as a file. if not then you can use multiavchd it will make sure it's to spec. can't be more specific as i don't have an oppo to test it on.
