Trying to convert M2ts files to DVD and not getting very good output

The m2ts files are 1280x720 and 24fps some of them have ac3 soundtrack and some have DTS.

I have tried a few options to convert them to DVD one being ConvertX to DVD.

The problem that I am getting is all the final conversions are a bit jumpy. I imagine this is due to converting 24fps to Pal format.

Does anyone know of a good way to convert them so that the playback is lovely and smooth?

    Many thanks. eon

Tried AVS2DVD - solved the movie stutters but no sound at all

Imported the m2ts file, it registered the video track and the DTS track, but the output was completely silent.

    Any Suggestions?

  7. Audio conversion (DTS to AC3) seems to have ended successfully.

    1. Did you try that DVD on a standalone DVD player?
    2. What DTS/AC3 directshow filter do you have installed? I suggest you to use ffdshow (stable releases).
    3. Could be a matter of very low volume due to normalization? Try to toggle off audio normalization in 'Title Edit'/'Audio'

    Let me know

    Thanks for the reply

Normalize Audio was ticked on, so I have turned it off under title/edit audio

and I don't know what directshow filters I have installed. Using Windows 7 64bit. I have just loaded FFdshow and tried to run the output dvd again on the computer - totally silent.

I'll try it in the DVD player tonight and then try to run it again with the FFdshow installed.

Could it be a Windows 7 thing?

I cannot exclude that. I did not have the opportunity to check AVStoDVD compliance with Windows 7 (even more 64 bit). In fact it is not listed as supported system in the readme.txt file...

Let me know about the other trials

hi, I have a question about bluray to dvd. do you guys know what programs i could use with windows 7 64bit. it seems i can rip the bluray to hardrive easily but when i try to convert it messesup the audio. i have used a few programs to rip either to mkv or m2ts.

and when i try to convert to dvd i get a screwed up audio either a stuttering noise or the audio track keeps starting over through out the movie.

i have tried way to many guides and none are working. would u happen to know a guide i could use to make this work?

thanks so much, i have tried to search and search for a solution but no luck.

Got AVStoDVD working on the conversion of Blu Ray (m2ts files) to DVD. Works in Windows7 and 64bit too no idea why it is now working?

One problem I do have - can't access subtitles

When I select Tools - Edit Title - Subtitles it just says Subtitles not present. This happens for both M2ts files and MVK

    Any suggestions?

about subs: AVStoDVD can accept only standalone subs files (.srt/.sup/.sst) to be added using 'Edit'/'Subtitles'/'Add Subtitles'.

Right now AVStoDVD cannot automatically extract subs from container like mkv or m2ts. You have to do it manually using, i.e., mkvextract.

I am also having problems converting a m2ts file to DVD using AVStoDVD.

The file contains video, a DTS-HD audio stream and subtitles(PGS). I first demuxed the file, where the audio is demuxed to leave the DTS 5.1 core. Also the subtitles are extracted, leaving a .sup file. After that I remuxed the original m2ts file replacing the DTS-HD with the DTS audio stream.

I then used AVStoDVD to convert the file to DVD. After converting, the file plays well on my mediaplayer (it is a SD player, that is the reason I want to convert the file to DVD). However, the audio stream is converted to 2ch AC3 and the subtitles are not visible. ( I can select them using the subtitle button on my remote, but the subtitles are not visible, I tried to change the aspect ratio of my TV but the subtitles do not show up).

I had a look at the log file of AVStoDVD, at there it already shows under: "OUTPUT AUDIO INFO: AC3 - ... - ... - ... - 2ch - ..." Do I have to apply a different setting? I ticked the box, "leave compliant dvd audio". Moreover, I installed the latest versio of ffdshow and during installation ticked to avisynth plugin box.

Edit: One addition: I would like to retain the DTS audio stream in the DVD.

Anyone an idea what I did wrong??
    Thanks in advance.

  14. Hi nilisvd,

DTS tracks retaining: next release will fix that issue. About channels remapping, make sure you have ffdshow installed as audio (AC3/DTS) directshow filter.

Subs: I am not sure that BD sup format is exactly the same as DVD sup format. Maybe some HD guru can clarify that. Anyway to be sure that your sup file is DVD compliant, launch SubtitlesCreator (it comes with AVStoDVD package) and open the sup file. If it is correctly displayed, than AVStoDVD should handle it as well ('Title'/'Subtitles'/'Add Subtitles').

Post the whole log file: it usually helps a lot.

    Thank you for the reply.

Regarding ffdshow, I just installed it using the installer. During installation I selected all available components (i.e. didirectshow filter, vfw interface, avisynth script serving, application plugins (avisynth, virtualdub, dscaler)). During additional setup if additionally enabled, bitstreaming of ac3,dts ( the rest was left as is). At the moment I am again encoding the file. I will post the log file when finished.

Regarding subs: Indeed the sup file is not compatible with subtitlecreator. I used suprip to extract text and saved it as an srt. Now subtitlecreator is able to read the file, so I excpect that the issue with the subs will be resolved.

Any idea when next release will be available??

Here is the LOG file, note that I cancelled the procedure during Audio encoding. In the command window a line of text was show that stated that aften detected a 2ch PCM audio source. Any idea why the audio is changed from 5.1ch to 2ch? I setup the ffdshow mixer as 5.1.

    Thank you in advance!

  17. 3 questions:

    1. Do you have installed also AC3Filter? If yes, uninstall it and use only ffdshow as audio filter.

    2. Go to 'Title Edit'/'Audio'. What is the channels configuration?

    3. During audio encoding, what is the configuration of ffdshow mixer?

I had installed ac3filter. I uninstalled ac3fitler and by setting the ffdshow mixer to 3/2/1 it works! Thank you for your help!

Any idea when a new version of AVStoDVD will be released with DTS audio retaining??

  19. I'm glad to hear that the issue was a codecs redundancy and you fix it.

About ffdshow mixer settings, you can leave the default setting or your favourite setting. AVStoDVD will temporary adjust the mixer setup according to the ongoing project.

New release... My will was to make a "light" update, but some new feats are stealing more time that expected. Anyway, I think that there will be a Christmas gift. Stay tuned.
