    Hi everyone. I am using IE 8 with compatiblity view turned on. I started noticing that a lot of spam and links to wrong sites when I click on links. They are incorrectly sending me to random advertising websites. I have not had this problem beofre and was wondering if it is some sort of setting?

    more likely you have some sort of malware/adware installed on your computer. try some scanners to clean it up. malwarebytes is fairly good.

    malewarebytes
    two good ones to start with. Both have free versions but do offer paid versions as well.

    Also you might consider trying firefox instead of IE.
