here's one i wasn't aware of, the daughter of sonny and cher had a "sex change" operation:

    http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/chaz_bono_makes_tv_debut_amid_sex_xxQLv0u68hFQ3VSimhqWBP

Chaz Bono says beginning the sex-change process to turn him from a woman to a man is "the best decision I've ever made."

The 40-year-old writer, activist and reality-TV star, who was born a girl to Sonny Bono and Cher, says he's eight months into the years-long transformation and says he feels great.
because i don't want to get all political and violate this forum's rules, allow me to get biological and point out that someone would explain to anyone contemplating a "gender reassignment" surgery, that there is no such thing as a "sex change" operation, you can't change your sex, you can only mutilate yourself.

a persons sex is determined by their chromosome arrangement, men have XY configurations while women have XX, up until someone figures out how to alter a persons genes so that the chromosome can actually be changed, then a sex change operation will not occur.

Well, that's not what's written in my books.
In the case of the mammals, without the influence of the sexual hormones,
and without the expected tissue responsiveness,
to be an XX or an XY means very little or nothing at all.

P.S.: That kind of "speech" typically comes from who hasn't studied Biology hard enough

(no offense intended, just stating a fact).

then i would suggest you update your books:

    http://users.rcn.com/jkimball.ma.ultranet/BiologyPages/S/SexChromosomes.html

The nuclei of human cells contain 22 autosomes and 2 sex chromosomes. In females, the sex chromosomes are the 2 X chromosomes. Males have one X chromosome and one Y chromosome. The presence of the Y chromosome is decisive for unleashing the developmental program that leads to a baby boy.
    http://www.web-books.com/MoBio/Free/Ch1C4.htm

Sex chromosomes determine the sex of an organism. A human somatic cell has two sex chromosomes: XY in male and XX in female. A human germ cell has one sex chromosome: X or Y in a sperm and X in an egg. When an X-sperm is combined with an egg, the resulting zygote (fertilized egg) will contain two X chromosomes. A person developed from the XX-zygote will have the characteristics of a female. Combination of a Y-sperm and an egg will produce a male.
now granted, i haven't studied biology as "hard" as i have studied other subjects, but i do believe that the XX/XY relationship to the sex of a person has been known for at least 100 years, it's not like we're breaking new medical ground here.

i am interested in knowing what biology book you possess that states something different and what specifically is that difference. because it would seem that your books omit or substantially alter basic human physiological truths that are well established.

Your conclusion relies on the absolute validity that XX/XY does as the book says. If that's not entirely accurate, then your latter conclusion is out the window, too. In order to prove your idea, you have to go up one level and re-prove that one, too.

    Science ain't easy, folks.

Chaz mentioned doing that years and years ago. (Can't say I care at all, however. This is newsworthy?)
