  1. Hi, planning on getting a new blu ray rom. I just wondering what you guys recommend for a fast reader. I really dont care about a write just want one that reader I heard good things about LG now a day. I am using a friends Lite-on and its rated at 5x but its actually reading t 2.1x. My system is a P4 2.6. 2gb ram, sata 7200rpm WD. I just need a player that is reliable and at least read disc at 4x. Thanks

Bought a liteon 208 from Newegg about a month ago. Seems like it was just under $100. Works well. Over the years I've bought a number of liteon drives and never had a problem with any of them. The 208 is a 25gb 8x and a 50gb@6x. Seems to work at the rated speeds.

  3. thanks for the reply. Does the read rate depend on the type of software we are using. As far as the read rate goes also depend on my other hardware such as cpu, ram, and hd speed? I dont want to spend money on a 8x player and find out that the software im using or my hardware spec is making it read at 2x. If that is the case, I would rather much spend money on a cheap 4x reader. Thanks
