Hi all, new to this forum, looking for a little help.
I have a media player that i play all my movie files on that are mostly AVI files. I have an MP4 file that my movie player
does not support. Is it possible to convert the MP4 to an AVI,XVID or to DIVX. I,m a little new to this converting and have only ever converted AVI to dvd using convertx2dvd before. The MP4 is 700mb in size so if it is possible to convert would the new converted file stay the same size. Any advice on any programs that i would need would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Yes. Use for example WinFF, open the mp4 and choose avi xvid.

If WinFF wont work then try https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/all-in-one-video-converters

If you look to your left you will see a menu. One of the options on it is Tools. Click on this and you will be taken to our Tools section, where you can search by conversion type (i.e. MP4 - AVI), and all the programs supporting that type of conversion will be listed, along with guides and reviews from members.

Personally, I like Xvid4PSP, but you may find the free version of Any Video Converter simpler to use if you are just starting out.

    Hi, Thanks for replies.
I have looked at a few of the options in the tools section on the left. Which one is the easiest to use (FREE). Plus the MP4 file is 700mb when i convert to AVI will the AVI file be 700mb also.

I would first check what the specs of the video player. Perhaps, you don't need a conversion? A simple container repackaging (changing MP4 to AVI) may play just fine.
Otherwise, the tools mentioned above are easy and free: WinFF, Any Video Converter Free.
If you want the same size, then you should use the same bitrates (note: the quality will be worse than the original video).

Thank you all for your help.
All sorted. I used winff. very easy to use. The movie file ended up being 3.8 gb, but the quality is very good. Ended up converting to dvd so it will play on my dvd as well as my media player.
All your help is much appreciated. look forword to some more help in future from you guys.
