  1. Is there any way to join a series of .bmp's to create a video file (.avi,.asf,or .mpg)? If there is what's a good free app that can be used to do it? TIA.

I drag and drop a whole index into Vegas Video. It defaults them to 5 seconds a piece and transitions nicely to the next pic.

Drag them in and render it out an Mpeg, you're done really quick and easy.

  3. You could try bbMpeg. Make a .txt file with the path to each bmpfile, like:
    c:\test\test1.bmp
    c:\test\test2.bmp
and so on. Save it as something.lst and load it into bbMpeg. Now it's just to start encoding.
But there's proabably a easier way to do it.

  4. DjPj : I'm trying the method you suggested w/ bbMpeg, doesn't seem to be working, at least I'm not getting it to work.

Bear with me here, complete newbie, you state to save the list as "something.lst" when I try to do that bbMpeg says it can't read the file. How are you saving the list as a .lst? maybe that's my problem. I have the .txt document how do I make it .lst?

Thanks for your patience and help.

  6. If your intention if for each bitmap to be a frame (as opposed to 1 second in length or something), then VirtualDub will load a bitmap series with each pic as a frame in the video.

  7. Vitualis: Which version of VirtualDub should I use? I currently run 1.3c (I work with some .asf files) I couldn't seem to figure out how to get it to work  what's the path to that option? Thanks for your advice and patience.

  8. The version of VirtualDub I've got on my PC is 1.4.5. I don't know if your version can do the same thing, but if it doesn't, there's no harm in installing two versions of VirtualDub on your PC in separate folders...

File --> Open Video File -->

Change "Files of type" to "All Files *.*"

    Load up your first BMP.

The bitmaps will have to be named in a sequence (e.g., pic001.bmp, pic002.bmp, pic003.bmp, etc.)

Then you can change the framerate, framesize, compression, apply filters, etc., and then save it as an AVI.
