My sister made a DVD disk from the camcorder video she captured about her baby. She wants to send the disk back to China to be played in DVD player there for the grandparents. I am not sure if the disk can be played there since I seem to recall that China has different decoder than here. Can someone answer this question for me?
Thanks in advance for your help!

And where is here????? NTSC country?
It will work on all computers( with a dvd-rom) and most dvd players supports NTSC and PAL DVDs. You might get a problem if the TV just supports PAL and the dvd player only outputs in NTSC.
And be sure to use GOOD dvdr media as I think it will be a bigger problem. -
Thanks for your quick response. Sorry for the confusion. Here means United States. They want to play the disk through DVD player and TV in China, not through computer DVD-ROM. Would that be a problem? As you point out here (US) is NTSC format and China has PAL format. Will DVD disk made in NTSC format be play back only in NTSC supported DVD player and TV?

Most PAL DVD players and TVs can display or convert NTSC signals, so I'd say you have probably a 90% chance that the DVD will be fine, but not 100%. Just try it and if it doesn't work then worry about converting it to PAL. It's definitely not worth the effort to convert if it's not necessary.
