  1. I want to substitute the introductory music of an avi film. Is there an avi editor I can use to do that that won't destroy the whole sound synch of the film?

Any good editor will do this. However AVI is a very broad term. You need to be more specific as to exactly how your AVI has been encoded. If you don't know yourself, post a g-spot or mediainfo screenshot.

Many editors do not like the end distribution formats such as Divx or Xvid, as these were never designed for editing. You are more likely to have issues with these formats, or with VBR MP3 audio compression. Again, mediainfo will tell us what you are dealing with.

If, however, all you need to do is make a small change to the audio, and not do any actual video editing, it may be simpler to demux the audio, make the changes in an audio editor, then put the audio back. This can easily be done without introducing sync problems. Audacity is a free audio editor that could be used. Reaper is also worth a look, as you can load the video into Reaper and see it play as you work.
