Tray stuck. Not opening when Eject button pressed. Makes a cracking sound.

I have a DVD Player. Model DVP5992/37
Tray not opening when Eject Button is pressed.
Makes a crackling sound byr tray won't open,
Can any body offer a solution?

Unplug device.
Philips head screwdriver; remove cover.

Have you unplugged it for a few minutes, then holding down the eject button, plug it in? But the 'cracking' sound may be from a stripped drive gear. If it's under warranty, I would replace it. If you can't get your disc out, you will have to do what filmboss80 suggests as I don't think those players have a manual eject hole. But be gentle. Those players break easily.
