  1. Has anyone used the 90 or 99 min CDRs to burn a VCD ? How well does it work on standalone DVD players ?

    Thanks

  2. They work fine on most DVD players, but some will not play them. Often, cheap DVD players will play everyhting, but expensive players are much more picky about the standards.

I have 4 brands of dvd players and they all play the 99 min cdr's just fine, but I have never benn able to get more than 97 min on one, and most of the time I am limited to about 95 min, in nero I will get the message not enough room. so at least on my system using nero and a tdk 16x burner they are more like 95 min...lol

    my dvd players are:
    pioneer dv-c503
    (2) fisher s1100's
    apex ad660
    daewoo dvd/tv combo

  5. Hey, does anyone know if YesBuy.net went out of business? I've been trying to access their page for the last few days, but nothing so far. I've been getting all my 99min cd-rs from them and I hate to go searching for another place that sells decent quality 99min for cheap.

  6. 1st of all you must have a burner that will burn a 99min. CD-R to 99min., both my HP's does I have been able to burn to 98min. 45 sec. on them I can play them in the following DVD players.

    Pioneer 343
    APEX 500w, 600a, 660, 1500
    Daewoo 5700
    Panasonic RV31, RV32, RA60

I have captured and burned VCD, XVCD, SVCD, XSVCD on these discs.
I get mine at CompUSA, their brand a 16 pack for $9.99 in slim design case.
I have burned 352x240 1150 to 2520 bitrates for VCD
    480x480 2520 to 3500 bitrates for SVCD.

  7. Thanks for the info guys. I have a Yamaha burner (2x - a little old) but I'm looking into buying a TDK VeloCD burner (24x)...will this allow me to burn 99 minute CDs. I want start capturing my video and convert them into VCD and reduce my over all storage necessity.

Ooops almost forgot to ask, what software do I need. I have Roxio 5 but I've heard Nero is better.

    Thanks again
