  1. Hi everybody

I have a Samsung color laser printer, CLP310, and always when I press the print button I get this error : paper mismatch in tray 1, but the issue is that I've checked many times and the paper is placed correctly. I just reinstalled my system couple of days ago, but before that the printer worked ok, no error.
Do you think that it might be the fault of the drivers?
What is the best way to install the printer so I can avoid this error?

Forgot to mention that I can get the print but only after 10 seconds and always the error comes first

  2. Doesn't it say paper Size/Type mismatch in tray 1? This error does not mean the paper is incorrectly placed in the tray, it means that the printer is expecting one size, such as 8.5 x 11, and is seeing a different size, such as 8.5 x 14. Paper size is dertermined by a small sensor flag on the underside of the printer, which is engaged by the rear backstop which is set against the paper in the tray.

If the driver on the PC is defaulted to one size, or type such as Letterhead, and the printer detects a different size, or the type is set to Plain Paper on the menu, this could cause it. There is no detection for paper types mechanically on the printer, this must be set on the menu.

Since you just re-installed your "system", I will assume that the drivers also have been re-installed, and most likely are set differently to what they were before. However, if this re-installation involved moving the printer, or if paper has been reloaded in the tray before the error began to occur, it is quite possible that the rear paper stop is set incorrectly or that the sensor flag has been damaged or broken off. This is quite common.

Yes, that's right...thank you very much for the info. I managed to get rid of the error.

  4. Please describe EXACTLY what you did to resolve the problem.

This will most likely in the future aid and assist other poor, misbegotten souls who have stumbled upon the same problem.

You may, in fact, be responsible for saving someone's job, thereby allowing hungry children to be fed and clothed, and perhaps even help the cause of world peace and universal harmony. Possibly even prevent untold death, blood, and destruction caused by someone unable to print payroll checks for large numbers of deserving employees. Oh, the humanity!

Just think of the warm fuzzy that will give you, and I have actually witnessed the payroll check / lost job scenario.
