I am trying to import an Mpeg into Camtasia 6 and when I do it tells me that there is no codec available to render the file.
I am simply trying to take an mpeg and edit sections out of it, so maybe have a time line and be able to clip and save sections of the video. Is there an easier program to do this with? Thank you.

Mpeg2Cut2, Cuttermaran - both free. Mpeg2cut2 cuts only on I-frames, Cuttermaran is frame-accurate but you have to demux first.
There are lots of others but these are both free and very good, fast as well. No re-encoding, or in the case of Cuttermaran only immediately around the cut area.
