I've had this player for couple of months now.

Retail DVDs and HDTV encoded divx files plays just fine. It's the regular
encoded divx files I've had a problem with.

Those files will play for about 5 minutes than the image will freeze while the sound
will keep going for a few more seconds and than nothing. I need to unplug
the unit so I can make it work again.

My previous players all have been Philips and until they crapped out on me, I never
once had a problem like this. Everything I would throw at it would play fine.

Is there perhaps a setting I need to change within the player for the regular files to play
as they should? or do I need to install a new firmware?

    Help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

That's a DivX Certified player. Not all AVI and MP4 files are DivX...you know that don't you?
I have an external HDD Media player that chokes on any kind of MP4, AVI file that does NOT have MP3 audio....but it's not DivX Certified so it plays almost anything.....as long as it contains MP3 audio.

    We have a sticky here

that lists encoding options for Divx/Xvid that can cause playback problems on DVD players. Use some tool like GSpot to determine if your problem files have any of these options. If your files don't have any of those problem settings, then it could be a media issue and the Pioneer doesn't like your media. Using high quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim might help.

I had read on other boards that people had the same freezing problems with the dv-410v. Sadly, no one had a solution for said problem hence why I inquired here.

I guess the lesson here is always buy Philips for my DivX playing needs.
