  1. hi,
    just wanted to ask what settings u use in tmpenc when you have captured a movie from vhs and want to encode it to svcd... when i do this, the quality isn't the best (but the quality of the avi is). what filter you use (settings), interlaced or not etc.

    What are you capturing at, spec's etc.

    As far as VHS to SVCD, I normally do them to VCD. I am capping via Vdub and Huffyuv, at 32 bit RGB, at 352 x 240. Then I edit and Frameserve and filter via Vdub to TMPG v 252 Plus.

    You can apply your filters in Vdub prior to posting the frameserved script...ie deinterlaced, brighten, sharpen, etc....

    If you are Capturing from a S-VHS via the S-VHS ports would you use the same settings? I have a lot of original VHS tapes that play back great through my S-VHS system, would like the same or close to same on the VCD side. Why not use a higher rate like 352x480 or something like that and resize during the Frameserve sessions.....?

  4. i capture at 480 x 576, 24 bit rgb, mjpeg codec (quailty 20) in virtual dub...i use some filtes (sharpen, smoother, motion blur). my problem is, that the picture is pixled after i have encoded it. the avi isnt pixled
