  1. Hi,

I understand that when for example Nero creating a dvd from files the files are compressed using mpeg-2 compression.
if true, what is the useability of utilities that can convert HD to DVD format?

    thanks,

It can convert everything to dvd. If you want more details you must provide more information than just "hd"...

  5. DVD only supports MPEG 2 video. So any program that converts to DVD format will convert to MPEG 2.

And, of course, it only supports SD resolutions, so any HD video you want to put on a DVD-Video disc is going to be converted to SD.

  8. Good? It can look as good as a DVD can look. It will never be HD though.

Note that it's possible to put HD video on a DVD. But it won't play on normal DVD players. It can play on Blu-ray players though. See AVCHD. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVCHD#DVD_disc
