well LOL should of looked at that 1st...

in explorer the ORIGINAL disc is the exact same 4.01 gbs

I kept all the settings on anydvd to their defaults.....

very new to dvd copying/ripping and I want to know does anydvd always do a direct 1:1 copy or is their option to compress, just wondering... I just burned the disc and the first 30 secs or so is playing fine but I dont know if I should get DvdShrink as well because someone said to load the videots files into shrink to check for errors?

I thought also that CloneDvd(just got the program) does the ripping to the harddrive but I guess its just burning software like nero or imgburn?

any explaination/ advice would be great as Im trying to do this right....

    thanks

AnyDVD just removes copy protection on the fly and handles some of the prohibited actions. It has nothing to do with compression. Once you have AnyDVD installed you can simply copy the video_ts folder in Explorer if you want, although I would still use something like DVD Decrypter to do it. Just make sure you turn off all of the CSS removal in DVD Decrypter first.

You still need DVD Shrink or similar to perform compression and/or re-authoring tasks.

Also, CloneDVD does rip the DVD and burns to disc or copies to HD.

    Short and sweet:
AnyDVD runs in the back ground,
    remove copy protection and region.
It has no idea of the movie you want to rip,
until you use a ripping/compression program.
Use CloneDVD to rip to HD and/or burn to disk.
This combo work great for me.
The HELP files in both programs would
    have answered all your questions.
    Welcome aboard and happy ripping.

Then the original movie is 4.01GB. AnyDVD cannot compress video or audio.

well thanks for the feedback guys but wondering is AnyDVD a reliable/quality way to rip? cuz it was so easy I just right clicked the fox, then hit copy to hard drive. I have dvdshrink now too and when applicable, if a given file is over 4.35 gbs or whatever a dvd5 is, would it be as simple as loading the videots folder into shrink and just stripping/compressing video to fit to disc?

Im just concerned about a good 1:1 copy to begin with and it seems AnyDvd is a good ripper as well as a copy protection tool, should I be using decrypter instead though to rip?

Also heard DvdFabPlatinum was good too as a ripper, burner kind of an AIO.... LOL too many choices, I feel like im at baskin robbins trying to pick an ice cream flavor

The best burner is still ImgBurn.
Ripping a full DVD to your hard drive(no compression at all) is a 1:1 copy no matter what program you use.
DVDFabDecrypter is the FREE version of DVDFab and DVDFab Platinum. You install all three in one shot but unless you pay...you won't get the added features of DVDFab or Platinum.

if i was to get dvdfabplatinum, would it do everything I want w/ one program?.... id rather have a good AIO then using both anydvd to rip and dvdshrink to compress/strip the dvd. Also cuz i believe dvdshrink isnt updated anymore....

few questions for anyone with the software....
would DVDFab Platinum decrypt/rip a 1:1 copy to my harddrive and then allow me within the program to then strip it down/compress it to fit it to dvd5 if I wanted to, or at the same time leave it as an untouched dvd9 if I felt it warranted it... like a real long movie..(ex.Titantic, Dances With Wolves) cuz Ill get platinum if somebody here might happen to have it and can make a case that its worth it cuz as a noob im looking for AIO software to handle all my dvd ripping/editing needs... then i could just use ImgBurn after ripping with dvdfabplat

Yes DVDShrink is technically dead but what rippers like DVDFabDecrypter give you on your hard drive
can easily be opened with DVDShrink. The "shrinking" portion hasn't changed....it just cannot decrypt newer
    DVDs.
And most importantly....it is always faster to "shrink" from a file than from a DVD spinning in your DVD drive.
I'd venture to say at least half the amount of time? Sure seems that way to me anyway.

After trying MAGIX, AVIDEMUX, SHRINK, Xillisoft, and assorted other commercial products, only DVDFAB PLATINUM just cut the crap and let me get rid of an extremely annoying distributor's logo . . . and some uh, other content that shall not be mentioned.

It was a two pass process:
CUSTOMIZE let me isolate the nasty bit of advertising that assaults my ears every time I hear it by immediately confirming its location and then simply unchecking the box.
__________ was the process I used to burn the edited movie. I have a pending question about this so I'd better not sound like an expert; just trust me, it burned like a CHAMP. The resulting DVD played flawlessly on a cheap $20 DVD player and I scrutinized it to within an inch of its BUPs and BURPS to make absolutely certain the offending LOGO sequence was nowhere to be found on the result.

Incidentally, this was an MPI Video and they bloody well deserve to have their goolies chopped out. I don't mind seeing their logo but there is almost nothing so uniquely offensive as having a blaring trumpet herald the beginning of what, in this particular instance, happens to be a very deliberately quiet, not to mention creeping TV series (initials DS muaaahahaha).

    Ah, the quiet.

Get that FAB PLAT honey. It'll get you further than you'll get with most programs; it will do it quicker; and it will do it with fewer steps.
