I am fairly new to all this (although not a complete newbie) and have just purchased a new DVD writer - Emprex. It is set to region 1 although I still have three more changes left. I have both Region 1 & 2 films.
Rather than trying to find a hack (and the subsequent problems using it) I am thinking along the lines of AnyDvd or DvdRegionFree (both about the same price) and I wondered if anyone had an opinion on one or the other. I use Dvd Decrypter and Dvd Shrink - both marvellous programs.

spiderman2k1 Thanks. Bit confused as to what actually to do once installed. Do I need to do ANYTHING or just ignore it?

  4. Once AnyDVD starts you dont have to do anything. It will sit in the system tray and bypass the region coding transparently.
When I was born I was so shocked that I could'nt speak for 18 months.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but since dvdregionfree doesn't seem to work in Vista I'm looking at AnyDVD to help me on this front. However, is this description by sanjayk really true? The trial version I downloaded scans every new DVD I put in my drive before allowing me to play it. Yes, this only takes 2-3seconds, but I want to set up my system so that the DVD plays (in Zoom Player) upon entering it in the drive. AnyDVD doesn't seem to allow this (or does it?).

Or will dvdregionfree offer a Vista version anytime soon?
