  3. You don't need to change the framerate or do a frameserve with Vdub.
Just use tmpgenc and make a PAL VCD. Almost all DVD players will play both PAL and NTSC VCD's.

  4. Almost all DVD players will play PAL or NTSC, yes, but many TVs won't, depending on what part of the world you're in. I always need to run PAL VCD encoded files through tmpgenc to them convert to NTSC. If you just use tmpgenc with a NTSC VCD template on your divx, that should work.

  5. What kind of DVD player do you have zarquon? All the PAL VCD's that I have tried worked fine on NTSC players and TV's.

  6. Thanks u guys 4 the help but zarquon I lost u there at the end "If you just use tmpgenc with a NTSC VCD template on your divx, that should work." Does this mean if I just use the NTSC VCD Template it will change the fps when encoding?

  7. drgabber: I have a Philips DVD711; it plays PAL VCD's, but my TV can't lock onto the PAL signal, the picture is black and white, and rolls vertically. It's an older set, at least 12 years or so, maybe most newer ones do better at this...
ckxd69: Yes, the NTSC VCD Template will change the fps when encoding.

  8. zarquon,

It depends mostly on your DVD player. Although multisystems TVs are common in some parts of the world (usually the PAL world), a basic TV usually doesn't support both PAL and NTSC.

Many DVD players do have the ability to convert from a PAL signal to NTSC and vice versa -- this is usually the determining point.

You mentioned that you have a Philips DVD player. From reports of other people who have posted, Philips players don't do the conversion --> thus your TV is faced with a PAL signal (which it can't handle).

    Regards.

  9. Wait if I pick 1 of NTSC VCD Template It will change the fps meaning that the audio will not be sync right, or does it also change the audio when encoding?
