I have a 25fps MKV file (1920 x 816) that wont playback on my TV via USB port (HD DivX codec) - it has AC3/x264 like all my other HD MKV files - all i know that the codec is x264 and my TV plays H.264 - i dunno if this is same codec...? (all my other MKVs that work are H.264 / AC3)
whats the best program/technique to convert this MKV file into a file that WILL play on my TV... like XviD / AVI / MP4 / DivX / MPEG4
any help is great
i tried ALL-to-AVI several times but what a terrible program - crashed , long file names error , runtime error - binned it... it also mentioned about having to convert twice which put me off

You should be able to set the resolution to your liking in the video options. By the way, to make it less demanding for the TV, you can chose to encode it in xvid video and in avi format.
I'm afraid you will lose certain amount of video quality as a result of the conversion. -
i cant find any resolution settings - i followed baldricks guide but its flawed

it lets you change everything BUT resolution -

Try uncropmkv and resize to 1920x1080,it will take a long time to re-encode but it will be the proper spec if thats what your tv usb accepts.Might wanna try 1280x720 if 1080 dont work, not sure what your tv specs are for playing hd files.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
thanks i will have a go at side by side comparison - all the ones i can see now are same as all others that playback H.264 / AC3 / 1920 x 800
my tv plays MKV (no DTS) , XVID , AVI , DIVX , MPEG , MP4 all Standard Def or High Definition...
