  1. Hi
Is any of these versions include all the version enhancements? I thought Vdub had, but it won't open WMV files. I am most interested in transcoding WMV to DIVX....

    Thanks

You might have to install a WMV plugin: http://home.comcast.net/~fcchandler/index.html

But you still may not be able to open all versions of WMVs.

Try this new experimental version of Virtualdub. It's the only version you need now. It makes VirtualdubMod and Virtualdub MPEG-2 obsolete.

Check out this thread to find all the input plugins to load different types of fyles.

Here are the pluins for MPEG-2, WMV, FLV and QT...

There is also a download for an AC3 plugin that lets you insert AC3 into an AVI file but I'm not finding it right now.

This version has VBR MP3 support and also allows you to add different types of audio files It also allows frame accurate editing in Smart Render mode and allows transitions with filters in Blend mode and the Curve Editor.

I had this problem until I opened FFDshow under Video>Codecs in Vdub and told it to use WMV9 codec to open WMV1 and WMV2 files. Now all WMV files work fine.

Open Virtualdub and click the Video tab > click Compression > click on ffdshow video codec > click Configure > under format. look for WMV1/7 and WMV2/8, click on disabled to show the drop down menu and either choose Libacodec or WMV9 and you should be in business.

Obviously you need ffdshow installed on your computer.

As for the plugins, unzip and copy the plugins into the plugin folder in Virtualdub 1.7.X and the files should load automatically.

Also, for other file types that won't open, the guide that Steve Walsh linked to using Avisynth will open them. Using the plugins avoid having to create a script every time you want to open a different file. There are other plugins in the works. Possibly a RM plugin and hopefully a H264 plugin.
