is there any application that can play a digitial video clip and tell you what compresssion format was used ot make it (eg mpeg1, mpeg2, etc)?
I bought a EVGA indtube usb device that allows you to watch HDTV and record to disk with DVR function. I was planning to use it to make good qualiity DVDs of my old HI8 analog videos. I was going to use the s-video input to do this and record with the DVR. I heard that MPEG1 is not good quality for DVD but not sure what format this indtube product is using to create the .mpg files that I see when I run the DVR function. Is this a good way for me to create a DVD of my old tapes?
