I am making a movie that is made up of clips that have different volume levels, so that some clips are louder than others. How do I adjust the volume of the individual clips so I can get the audio levels of them to match up better?

Use a normalizer. See for example
 for avi with mp3
 https://forum.videohelp.com/topic314909.html

 or for mpeg files
 https://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/is-there-a-way-to-normalize-audio-of-vob-and-mp...x-t347736.html

or search for normalize at the top right.
