I started capturing some old vhs tapes with a VHXTreme card and Virtualdub a few weeks ago. Just for fun...
It was everything fine... YUY2/320x288.. I even started using DivX 4 capturing and with audio synchronized using PCM/11/8/s.. and all that.
But all of a sudden, from one day to anoher (I don't know if I screwed something installing more codecs I downloaded from the web), virtualdub stopped capturing and started to display this message:
"Warning no frames captured"
"Make sure - valid video source; turn off overlay; reduce image size or image depth to 16/24"
yet I can still capture raw AVIs but I want compression !!!
Any ideas? HELP PLEASE !![]()
More data:
OS: windows 98
App: Both, VirtualDUB 1.3 and 1.4.8

do what it says and turn off the overlay, that uses up allot of cpu resources.

Thanks for the tip...but... I just tried turning OFF overlay and reducing to 1/4 size.. but still does not work...!
HELP PLEASE!!!! -
Are you sure about that Summersby, I thought (and my systems performance supports this) that overlay was basically for free, but preview took the processing power?
But maybe that is only when you are capturing with a 'video in' graphics card (as I am).
