  1. I have an 11 minute clip that I want to put on Youtube, but it's always rejected due to it being a minute too long. I can't edit any further and it's an MPEG 2 file. Is there a conversion utility that will change the speed of playback or "time compress" it so that it will fit the 10 minute limit through playing back slightly faster? Thanx!

Virtualdub can do this, however you will have to also speed up the audio to keep everything in sync. Audacity has tools for this.

I have the opposite problem - 8.5 minutes long, plays fine, scans fine, and youtube rejects it as too long.

  3. So I would have to separate the audio and video from the file and do them separately? Yeesh! I was hoping there was a combined solution. Oh well...
    Thanx anyway.

You could try something like Xvid4PSP or MediaCoder, but most all-in-ones don't do too well with audio sync when changing framerates.

What are the specs of the source file ?

  5. 352x240 MPEG2 29.97fps vbr file. Is there any notation on how to do this? I have no idea what I would need to do. Thanx again.

  6. I don't think you're a minute over, but perhaps as little as a few seconds. They say 10 minutes is the max but in my experience anything under 11 minutes is OK. Unless they've changed the rules recently. There are many, many videos at YouTube between 10 and 11 minutes in length. These are videos uploaded by 'regular' people, and not YouTube's partners, or whatever the correct term is.

  8. I just didn't want to lose any of the content. I wound up splitting the clip in two.
