Ok first time here. I see you have vitual dub here, i am using vista home premium 32bit and wondering what the best version to use it don t see anything made for vista i don t want any mistakes.
I would like to use dub on torrents to fix them before i use shrink / decrpter to burn on to a dvd, so do you also have nice simple instructions, step bye step on how to do this using, i am good at following direction and would like to try this out and lastly will this work on all torrents or only certain ones and how do i choose them . ?
Thanks a bunch - need the help . . ./

Two main versions are commonly used, the latest VirtualDub and VD Mod. VD Mod is a bit out of date, so the regular VD is probably the better choice. I still like VD Mod as I prefer the way it handles audio, but I've been using it a long time, so I'm a bit 'set in my ways.'
If you look to the bottom of the VD toolpage, you will see many guides listed. Just dive in. If you are encoding with VD, you might want to add a couple of codecs, Xvid is popular and HuffyUV or lagarith are good for lossless encoding.
VD can also filter and has hundreds of filters available. Some here: http://www.thedeemon.com/VirtualDubFilters/
It can also capture and it's a decent AVI type editor, and it can frameserve it's output directly to a MPEG encoder. It's very versatile, sort of a 'Swiss Army Knife' for AVI type video.
And welcome to our forums.
EDIT: It runs fine on Vista 32. -
Hi
You should really try ConvertXtoDVD, it is really easy for what you want to do, it even burns to DVD, though imgburn is best for this, the only thing about ConvertXtoDVD is you have to pay for it, but you can still try it, I think it is worht it

Try the ColorMill filter with VD. It has a lot of options for adjusting color and other attributes. You can preview it before you choose a final setting. It's mostly a 'seat of the pants' method for doing those adjustments and you can play with those settings till you get what you want. I also find the Gradation Filter is great for adjusting dark and light and contrast.
ColorMill: colormill2.1.1.zip
Gradation Filter: http://members.chello.at/nagiller/vdub/gradation.zip
Unzip these and paste the the .vdf files into the VD programs 'Plugins' folder. -
Ok trying to get colormill2.1.1 but i unzip it becomes something called RAR when i go to extract that it turns into something coming called vdf which vista need heard of so what now ? I need VD and then i paste to plugins so i don t extract anything just paste right, i guess vd has intructions in help because how do i get VD to see a video and then once i get it fixed how do i get it to shrink and where do i use WinAvi in the process , getting Dub now and i ll see what happens - later . . .
-
Expand the RAR to get the vdf, then copy this into the virtualdub plugins folder. It will now appear in the filter list.
There is no place for WinAVI in any sensible video process. Ever. Period.Read my blog here.

Just tryed VD and figured out how to a video in it, i clicked every button in sight and i could nothing happening so guess i need to get colormill into VD and then see if anything changes. I see VDF in the RAR list so all i need to do is copy then paste in DUB right so no expanding never done that before , so how do i open dub again theirs no shortcut on my desktop and dub isn t in my program list and seems like dub is used after AVI oh well but to finding dub then getting vdf - fingers crossed later . . .
-
Ok found the VDF file and copyed that but how do i save DUB to my hard drive; its open now but won t save - its got no folder and was never asked to save to startup program list and place a shortcut on my desktop as usual, i guess once i get dub saved on my HD the plugin file is their and that s where the vdf thingy goes- so awaiting help - thanks and later . . .

VD is a .exe program. It's not installed. Just R click on the Virtualdub.exe (Application) in the VD folder and select "Pin to start menu', then you can easily select and open it from there. It's a drag and drop program, you can drop a compatible video on it and it should open it. I store it in a 'Download' folder, but you can put it anywhere you want.
When you unzip Colormill, you will get a text file and a .vdf file. Copy the .vdf file to the VD plugin folder, restart VD and if you look in 'Video>Filters>Add', it should be there. Double click it and it will open with a preview window. There shouldn't be any 'RAR' file involved anywhere.
