Hi, I've been using pgcDemux to demux DVDShrink output and this works very well. I then, at times, have used SubtitleCreator to try and format the subtitles. I load in a .srt file and save it in .sup format. I then use IfoEdit to
put it all back togethor along with my new subtitles. However, no matter what I try (including copying the subs format
from the original ifo file), I always end up with lime green subtitles in a font which I don't recognise but makes the
subs almost impossible to read. Does anyone have any idea what I could be doing wrong or whether there is another
way to go about this business of adding new subtitles to a DVD?
    Many thanks,
P.S. I also have DVDLabPro. Is this suitable for this exercise?

  2. For starters you can not use IFOEdit for the muxing. Use Muxman instead, and maybe follow this guide:

Or, if you can live with the font, just change the colors after the fact using DVDSubEdit.

Hi Manoo, thanks very much for your reply. I will indeed try out all of your suggestions. However, I have used
IfoEdit to do the muxing and it produces a set of VOB and associated files ready to be burnt by DVDShrink. This
does work, but somewhere along the line, the font and colour of my subtitles is being made very strange. I'm really
new to this subject, and I really don't mean to disagree with you, since you are obviously more experienced than I am
at this black art One thing I am a bit confused about is the relationship between the IFO file and the .SUP file and
how they control the subtitles. Can anyone enlighten me on this please?

    Many thanks,
    Regards,

I thought you didn't like the ugly green subs. So don't use IFOEdit for muxing. Muxman is a much better DVD authoring program anyway. You might still have to change the colors afterwards, though, using PGCEdit or DVDSubEdit, but at least they won't be that nasty green color.

Well, the color information for the subtitles is contained in the IFO. If you're adding subs to a commercial DVD, you can transfer the subtitle color information to the new subs pretty easily. Most people, by the way, add the remuxed DVD back into the original using VobBlanker. That way, if there were any subtitles at all in the original DVD, that color information is given to the new subtitles also. And you keep the original menus and any extras you might want to keep.

Thank you very much for all of this information. I didn't mean to say that IfoEdit was the perfect tool, only that it did
mux the files. I really meant no disrespect. I am very grateful for the help, since I have been searching through the
plethora of tools and advice on the web, and not all of it is of a very high quality, apparently. I am so glad that I joined
    this forum
