I have a "fake" portable dvd player (made in china, my dad bought this) and i've been using these for about 8 months already. I usually use it with Xvid movies using my USB (flash disk).

Recently, while i watch movies after some time it produce cracking or crunching sounds then after minutes it hangs. after that i neeed to unplug its power.

one time, when it started producing crunching sounds, i tried to stop and play the movie again. but the crunching is already there unlike when i first played the movie awhile ago. and then it hangs and exits the USB menu then goes to DVD mode, then it became non-responsive.

what could be the problem? what can i do?

Any cheap DVD player these days is made to be disposable. Manufacturers use cheap, unreliable components to keep costs down. It may simply be that this player is going bad and you'll have to replace it.

I noticed lately that the screen (of course, the player has a built-in TV screen) that it suddenly gets dark then bright then dark then bright. Maybe this has something to do with its power system or whatever it's called?

and every time there is a cracking sound, the screen distorts.

My father won't buy another player for me! damn...
