  1. A friend called and said he was unable to decrypt a blu-ray with the DVDFabHD free version without buying the full version. I don't have a blu-ray so I don't know if this is true or not.

I thought he would just use the never expire blu-ray to blu-ray section and store the files on HD,
then burn directly to Blu-Ray Disk using Image Burn. Yes? No?

Did a search buy didn't see anything on DVDFabHD free converting Blu-Ray.

    Thanks in advance.

I have just used anydvd but I'm testing the free dvdfab hd decrypter now and it seems to work fine so far. But this part from the dvdfab site doesn't sound good
and part of Blu-ray protections (AACS, BD+, RC, UOPS and BD-Live) while copying.
And you probably need to shrink the blu-ray cause many are bigger then BD25.

I suspect that ANY free decrypter will never fully decrypt all BluRay discs. The manufacturers keep making changes that break previous releases and it takes time to keep up with that. In fact, a freeware project dedicated to this task has been stopped. It's only with paid employees that this can be done. It's too much effort to do it without compensation.

    Hello to All-

I am considering the upgrade to blu-ray from dvds. I have been using dvdfab for years, but I have not found a significant voice in the praise of dvdfab blu-ray decryption. Is anydvd the (current) choice for blu-ray decryption and compression to BD25?

I've been using AnyDVD HD for a while and it's yet to fail me on a BD decryption. Since it also works on DVDs, I use it with DVD Shrink for DVD backups also. And it's just a decrypter, no compression program included.

The freeware DVDFAB HD Decrypter has it's limitations, but for the price, it still a great program.

If you need BD to some other format compression, there are several programs out there. RipBot 264 and BD Rebuilder are two freeware ones.

Yes to the decryption, no to the compression. Use bdrb for the compression.

It looks like the latest beta version of DVDFab 6.1.0.2beta now supports Blu-ray disc compression.

DVDFab makes it seem as if the Blu-Ray to HDD option does not expire, but I don't think that is the case. I couldn't do anything with Blu-Rays on two machines after 30 days. However, unlike AnyDVD, you can buy a license for just the Blu-Ray ripping and it is half the price of AnyDVD. The DVDFab folks have really beefed up their Blu-Ray decryption abilities with version 6.
